Melanie Margiotta
1803 Broad Ripple Avenue
Medical Doctor Indiana
I am a board certified family medicine physician with a specialty in addiction medicine. I own a private Catholic faith based office in Indianapolis IN.

I have been in practice for over 20 years with the majority of my career focused on teaching family medicine residents.  During that time I could not believe the lack of education in addiction medicine from medical students to faculty and began training in this area at the VA Hospital in Indianapolis. I have worked in multiple areas of treatment including the  inpatient setting, outpatient setting, detoxification, medication management, counseling and own my own practice where I work with a therapist, nurses and now other physicians to provide services to the community.  My emphasis is on the dignity of each individual and the need for each of us to grow spiritually.  I believe this growth is an essential part of longterm recovery.

I have 7 in a blended family with my husband John who works with me at the office, The Kolbe Center  He juggles this  while he also works parttime as a paramedic and helps care for me while ill.  I have had an interest in telemedicine before I was ill and worked on a pilot project called Mydoc before the internet was used at all for patient encounters.  Now I am considered disabled due to rheumatoid arthritis and lung disease and find working on my computer is much easier than going to the office.  Due to my own medical issues with chronic pain, I do feel I have the ability to empathize better wtih my patients who also have these problems.

In addition to addiction medicine, chronic pain and general family medicine, I have an interest and special training in natural family planning and naprotechnology.  Naprotechnology is the use of a woman's natural fertility signs and symptoms to help mange medical conditions like premenstrual syndrome, postpartum depression and infertility.  I started learning more about this area of medicine when a group of local faith-filled couples needed help using this method started by Dr Hilgers at PopePaulVI Institute.  I hope to be able to utilize this internet site to help counsel patients regarding these issues also.

I have been blessed with many gifts throughout my life.  But the greatest gifts I believe are faith, family and the desire to help others by sharing my gifts wtih others.  I hope to get to know you better so I can help you grow in many ways... physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  May this work grow according to His will.

May God bless you and your family.

Melanie Margiotta, M.D.
