I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and have maintained a private practice in the Tampa Bay area since 2008. My specialty is working with adoptive children and families addressing issues of attachment, trauma, and loss. In addition I do Christian counseling, couples counseling, family therapy, and individual therapy.

I work with individuals, couples, and families to uncover the root issues and develop skills to help you experience the fulfilling life and relationships you desire.  I will guide you through examining your experiences, evaluating your choices, and provide encouragement as you work towards your goals. I value the uniqueness of my clients and I tailor treatment to your specific needs and aim to help clients feel safe and understood. I offer Christian counseling for those who are interested and respect the wishes of those who are not.

My expertise is in attachment and trauma-focused approaches, grounded in attachment theory. Humans possess an innate need for emotional bonds (i.e., attachments). The quality of the bond between the infant and primary caregiver influences their attachment style, and social and emotional development throughout childhood and adulthood. One’s attachment style underlies their tendency to seek emotional support and self-soothe. An insecure attachment is often the root of many behavioral and relationship issues throughout our lives. As a Christian, I welcome incorporating spirituality within our work and I will respect all beliefs and world-views.

As an adoption-competent therapist, I work with adopted children to heal wounds of past trauma, develop healthy attachments, and learn strategies to self-soothe. Whenever possible, caregivers are involved in treatment to provide a “corrective emotional experience.” I help parents understand the underlying needs behind behavioral issues and teach therapeutic parenting techniques to build trust and attachment.  When working with couples and families, we work together to heal relationship wounds and rebuild attachment.
