I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 1995. I have experience working with clients in crisis as well as in long term therapy. I believe everyone has the ability to free themselves from the burdens of self-defeating patterns of behavior and emotional distress. If your relationships with friends, family, and your significant other are unhappy and stressful, if you are having trouble maintaining relationships with others, or if you are suffering from the pain of childhood abuse, I can help you. My successes in assisting people to reach their goals stem not only from my ability to create a warm, nurturing, safe space within which change can more easily happen, but also from staying informed on information and research related to working with specific issues and communities, particularly brain science that influences human behavior and healing.

I specialize in the following issues:

childhood abuse and neglect

relationship issues

trauma and its aftermath

mood disorders

panic disorders

nontraditional relationships of all kinds

I am a sex positive therapist

I understand that when someone is experiencing enough conflict, pain, or turmoil in their life to cause them to seek help, you need help now, not in 6 months.  In your first session I will provide you with feedback, a clinical opinion of your concerns, homework, and a treatment plan.  You and I will together agree upon goals and timelines.

I have experience in both short-term, solution-focused therapy as well as therapy with longer term goals.  The choice is yours.  I find that sometimes clients come to me with the intention of using short-term solution focused therapy to help them solve their current problems and get some emotional relief.  Once they get that relief, they are often so happy with the results that they become motivated to engage in further counseling.

I am quoted in the new book by Jaleh Donaldson, "Making Marriage A Success: Pearls of Wisdom from Experts Across
The Nation."   http://www.amazon.com/MAKING-MARRIAGE-SUCCESS-Pearls-Experts/dp/1614345252
